Electric spin scrubbers & cleaning brushes

Powered tools that take the scrubbing off your hands — cordless spin scrubbers and electric brushes that power through baked-on grime.

Do electric spin scrubbers actually work?

On the right surface, yes — and they save your wrists. A spin scrubber earns its place on grout, tile, tub rims, shower screens and the inside of a toilet bowl, where the job is repetitive pressure over an area rather than one hard scrape. Speed does the work you would otherwise do with your shoulder.

What they are not is a miracle on burnt-on grease or limescale that has been there for years. Those still need a soak first. Use the scrubber to remove what the product has loosened, not to substitute for it.

Getting into corners

Most of what stays dirty in a bathroom is not the open surface, it is the join between two of them. That is why head shape matters more than motor power: a flat pad for the tub floor, a cone for corners, a narrow brush for the grout line and around taps. CleanReach ships with six heads and a telescopic arm so the bottom of the tub does not mean kneeling.

Looking after the brushes

Rinse heads under running water straight after use and stand them upright to dry — bristles left compressed in a wet caddy go soft and start to smell. Every few weeks, wash them properly with warm water and a little washing-up liquid. Replace a head when the bristles stay splayed after drying, because at that point it is polishing rather than scrubbing.

Keeping drains clear

The cheapest cleaning product is the one that stops the problem. A drain catcher over a shower or sink waste traps hair and food before it forms a blockage, and takes a second to empty. It is a small thing that prevents the single most unpleasant job in the house.

Common questions about Cleaning

Do electric spin scrubbers really work?
Yes, on grout, tile, tub rims and shower screens — anywhere the job is repeated pressure over an area. They will not remove baked-on grease or old limescale on their own. Apply a product, let it soak, then use the scrubber to lift what has been loosened.
How do I clean the brush heads?
Rinse them under running water right after use and stand them upright to dry, so the bristles are not left compressed and wet. Wash them properly every few weeks with warm water and washing-up liquid. Replace a head once the bristles stay splayed after drying.
How long does a cordless spin scrubber run per charge?
Runtime varies by model and by how hard you press, so check the individual product page for the rating. As a rule, a full charge covers a bathroom rather than a whole house — charge it between rooms rather than expecting to do everything in one go.
Can I use a spin scrubber in the shower while it is wet?
The heads and body are made for wet use — that is the point of them. Do not submerge the motor housing or leave the unit standing in water, and dry it before it goes back in a cupboard.
What is the easiest way to stop a drain blocking?
Catch the hair and food before they get in. A mesh or pop-up catcher over the waste takes a second to empty and prevents almost every blockage that would otherwise need a plumber or a bottle of caustic drain cleaner.
