Candle warmer lamps & cozy lighting

Warm light and soft scent, no open flame. Candle and wax warmer lamps, motion lights that come on gently, humidifiers that take the edge off dry air — the things that make a room feel like evening.

How candle warmer lamps work

A candle warmer lamp sits above a candle and melts the top layer of wax with heat from a bulb, rather than lighting the wick. The wax pools and releases scent exactly as it would with a flame — often more of it, because the whole surface melts evenly instead of tunnelling down the middle.

There is no flame, no smoke and no soot on the wall behind. It also means the candle lasts considerably longer, since you are not burning the wax away, only warming it.

Can you leave one on overnight?

Treat it like any other lamp: switch it off when you leave the room or go to bed. That is why the warmers here have a 2, 4 or 8-hour timer — you set it and it takes care of itself rather than relying on you to remember. The bulb runs warm, so keep the lamp on a hard, level surface with clearance above.

Warm light does most of the work

A room reads as cozy mostly through light, not objects. One or two low, warm sources at eye level or below beat a bright ceiling fixture every time. A warmer lamp doubles as exactly that kind of light, and a motion light gives you a soft path to the kitchen at night without switching the room on.

Air that feels comfortable

Coziness is partly physical. Dry, overheated air makes a room feel stuffy rather than warm, and it is why a humidifier belongs in this collection alongside the lamps. Getting humidity into a comfortable range does as much for how a room feels as anything you can put on a shelf.

Common questions about Cozy

How does a candle warmer lamp work?
It melts the top layer of a candle from above using heat from a bulb, instead of lighting the wick. The wax pools and releases scent the same way, with no flame, no smoke and no soot. Because you are warming the wax rather than burning it, the candle lasts a lot longer.
Can I leave a candle warmer lamp on all night?
Switch it off when you leave the room, as you would any lamp. Both warmers here have a 2, 4 or 8-hour timer so it shuts off on its own rather than depending on you remembering. Keep it on a hard, level surface with clear space above the bulb.
Do candle warmer lamps work as well as burning the candle?
For scent, usually better. A flame tunnels down the middle and leaves wax up the sides; a warmer melts the whole top surface evenly, so more of the fragrance is released and none of the candle is wasted.
What is the difference between a candle warmer and a wax warmer?
Mostly what you put in it. A candle warmer lamp heats a jar candle from above. A wax warmer is designed for melts and can generally take either. AuraMelt handles wax or a candle; EmberGlow is built around jar candles.
How long does the wax last?
Far longer than burning it, because none of it is consumed — you are only melting and re-setting the same wax. Scent fades before the wax runs out, so replace it when a fresh melt stops filling the room.
