Touchless soap dispensers & sensor bins

Hands-free where it counts. Sensor bins and soap dispensers you never touch with messy hands, motion lights that know when you walk in, and powered scrubbers and can openers that do the effort for you.

Are sensor bins worth it?

In a kitchen, genuinely yes — it is the one place you regularly have full or dirty hands and need the lid open. Not touching a bin lid while handling raw chicken is a real hygiene difference, not a marketing one. In a bathroom or office the case is weaker, and a good step bin does the same job for less.

The two complaints people have are batteries and false triggers. Rechargeable models remove the first. The second is placement: a bin that opens every time someone walks past is a bin standing in a walkway, not a faulty sensor.

How touchless soap dispensers work

An infrared sensor detects a hand an inch or two below the nozzle and runs a small pump for a fixed dose. Because the dose is measured, you use noticeably less soap than a pump you press — and there is no crust on the nozzle, because nothing is being squeezed through by hand.

PalmSense holds 280ml, which is roughly 500 doses, or about a month for a household. It recharges over USB rather than taking disposable batteries.

Why they stop working, and the fix

Almost every failure is one of three things: the battery is flat, the sensor window is dirty, or the soap is too thick. Wipe the sensor with a dry cloth first. If it dispenses weakly, the soap is likely too viscous — foaming dispensers need thin soap or soap cut with water, not hand-soap gel straight from a refill bottle.

Motion lighting

Motion lights make sense where you would otherwise fumble for a switch with your hands full or your eyes adjusted to the dark — hallways, under cabinets, the route to the bathroom at night. Because they are only on when someone is there, they use less energy than a light left on, though the saving is small compared with the convenience.

Common questions about Touchless & Electric

Are sensor trash cans worth it?
In a kitchen, yes — it is where you routinely have full or messy hands and need the lid open, and not touching it while handling raw meat is a genuine hygiene gain. In a bathroom or office, a good step bin does much the same for less.
How do automatic soap dispensers work?
An infrared sensor picks up your hand an inch or two below the nozzle and runs a pump for a fixed dose. Because the dose is measured rather than squeezed, you use less soap and the nozzle does not crust over.
Why has my touchless soap dispenser stopped working?
Almost always one of three things: flat battery, a dirty sensor window, or soap that is too thick. Wipe the sensor with a dry cloth first. If it runs weakly, the soap is probably too viscous — foaming dispensers need thin soap, or gel cut with water.
How long does a rechargeable dispenser last between charges?
PalmSense holds 280ml, roughly 500 doses, which is about a month for a household, and recharges over USB. Charge interval depends on how often it is triggered rather than on time sitting still.
Does a motion sensor light save energy?
A little, since it only runs when someone is there — but the saving is modest and convenience is the real reason to fit one. They earn their place in hallways, under cabinets and on the route to the bathroom at night, where finding a switch is the actual problem.
